Since I sleep next to a locamotive (aka my hubby), I have ample opportunity to see what's going on in the nocturnal hours. Besides the ticking of the clocks, it's pretty darn quiet. My conclusion was right and not much happens in the middle of the night. Since I had some time on my hands, I decided to become brave. Judge me if you must, but we have been swaddling Calan super tight every night when he goes down to bed since we've brought him home. Trust me when I tell you that swaddling has been the ONLY way we have kept our sanity. Usually, Calan will sleep through the night or just get up once or twice. However, recently it has caused me to contemplate the fact that he may not like to get swaddled anymore since he ends up in some pretty interesting positions when I get him when he wakes up. So, I've decided to commence Operation "Swaddle-free" and see what happens. Last night, we had success. Sometime between 1 and 2 a.m. (since I was up, you know), I "de-velcroed his swaddle-me blanket and he slept for two hours straight. Let me tell you that is history in the making my friends. We are continuing this Operation tonight and the next night and the next. So, if you don't here from me, it's because the Operation has failed and I have lost my sanity due to lack of sleep and I don't know where I am.
