Birth Story:
On Sunday, August 11th around 3pm, I thought my water broke so off to the hospital we went. I was having pretty strong contractions at that point. I got checked in and was monitored for several hours. My contractions were coming two minutes apart but was still only 2cm dialated so we were ordered to walk for an hour to see what would happen. The walk didn't help and after another hour, I wasn't dialated anymore so we had to go back home. When we got home, my contractions got real intense and then stopped through the evening. I woke up the next morning around 5:30am to my water breaking! Since we thought we had some time, we took showers and hung around the house for a while. I wasn't having any contractions so we weren't really worried. We ended up going to the mall to have lunch and then I felt my water gush again and said to Jody, "We better get going to the hospital." We get to the hospital and sure enough, my water had broke earlier at 5:30a.m. We got admitted and started the Petocin around 4pm and got an epidural around 6:30p.m. From about 7p.m. to 1a.m. I was pretty out of it but started getting really sick and shaking really bad from the labor. At about 2a.m., I felt Calan move down for delivery and I told the nurse that I was ready to push! After only 45 minutes of pushing, Calan made his arrival. Just perfect. I have to give my husband severe credit for getting me through this because he had to endure quite a lot of labor coaching. He is my hero for sure. It would have been a lot tougher without him there. I love you honey!
