Calan's New Walker

We are making so much progress! Calan has started going to occupational and speech therapy in addition to his normal physical therapy. We can tell what a huge difference this is making in his progress. He is starting to lift up off the ground more and more. This is called "High Kneeling" and the more and more he does this, the better.

His therapist was able to get a used posterior walker for him to use. He loves it! Here he is testing it out for the first time:

This walker allows Calan to "walk" on his own. His tone has built up enough to allow him to walk down the hall of the hospital and back before getting too tired. We couldn't be more thrilled with how things are going with him. Every day, he shows us something new and better than he did before. We are so lucky to have such wonderful therapists in his life. Since therapy is the only way Calan is going to get better, our life now revolves around his therapy sessions.

He doesn't know it but my little guy is not only my inspiration but he's also a teacher. He teaches me that obstacles shouldn't let you get discouraged in accomplishing your goals and that determination is just as powerful as anything.

Hi there! I clicked over to your blog from Hopeful Parents. My daughter (who is 3.5) also as hypotonic CP and she uses a walker - she's been using it for about a year now and it is amazing how far she's come now. I just wanted to give you a virtual hug and say that your son is adorable. Best!
